1922-2022: one hundred years of history of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli

Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli established in Spilimbergo in 1922, will soon celebrate 100 years of history. To honor this important milestone, the City of Spilimbergo will play an important role in the planned celebrations through its involvement and that of the main cultural and trade associations present in the area.
In recent days, a meeting was held between the leaders of the School and the municipal administration as a first confrontation to kick off the planning of a series of events that will develop during the year 2022 and that will involve the whole region.
For the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli the president Stefano Lovison and the director Gian Piero Brovedani presented an articulated series of proposals to the mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli and to the councilors Anna Bidoli, referent for production activities and tourism, and Ester Filipuzzi, councilor for education and culture. Also present at the meeting was the head of the culture area, Marco Attilio Salvadori, and the director of CRAF – Center for Research and Archiving of Photography – Alvise Rampini.
The program is rich: exhibitions, conferences, workshops, publications, informative events to tell the history of the School, but also to take stock of the art of mosaic, to talk about crafts, to present works from the past and the present, to learn about internationally renowned scholars, to welcome curious and interested visitors, to activate citizenship with its memories and expectations. It was therefore important to establish, with this meeting promoted by the municipal administration of Spilimbergo, the basis for a common vision, where suggestions and contributions are directed towards shared objectives.
Spilimbergo, City of the Mosaic, will in fact be a fundamental partner for these celebrations and particular energies will be dedicated to the involvement of the community, capable of transmitting, better than any other offer, the history, identity and beauty of a territory in which the mosaic is characterizing element.
An important moment of exchange, the meeting, held in Palazzo Tadea, officially launches the planning of activities in an agreement of intent and with the desire to increase, through the occasion of the celebrations, awareness of a heritage of culture and knowledge that shows how the mosaic was not only a source of sustenance, but also an artistic expression and a visiting card of Friuli in the world.
