Appeal to the Government of the Italian Art and Craft Schools
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is one of the signatory institutions of the Italian Art & Craft Schools Appeal addressed to the Prime Minister and the relevant Ministers.
The Appeal asks the Government for a reflection on the importance of the experiential and practical modality that characterizes teaching in the national Institutes of Art and Craft (Schools or Academies). In fact, this modality cannot be replaced, as in the case of universities, by distance learning. The drafters of the appeal are concerned about the effects of the closure imposed on the national school system by the recent provisions on health safety.
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, which for more than two months has activated a distance training course for theoretical subjects, sees the laboratory didactic activity, so fundamental for the preparation of the students, future mosaic masters. Given the structure and the spaces of its headquarters, the School would be able to guarantee all the measures needed to carry out the practical lessons of mosaic and terrace in safety.
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has therefore joined about twenty important Italian institutions, where the crafts of the Italian tradition are taught and handed down, excellence of Made in Italy, to ask, thanks also to the support of the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte in Milan, a comparison table in which to search for specific solutions in order to resume training in the safety of its staff and students.
