YounG7 for education – Scuola Futura
YounG7 Art: at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli to learn about mosaics.
This morning (28 June 2024), the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli hosted the YounG7 Arte field laboratory, one of the training and exchange moments in the artistic field in the area, foreseen within the important YounG7 for education – Scuola Futura initiative, which is taking place in Lignano Sabbiadoro these days.
In the year of the Italian Presidency of the G7, in fact the Ministry of Education and Merit promoted this initiative as a project for the dissemination of good educational practices and innovative teaching methodologies of the PNRR Education, involving students of secondary schools and teachers from from all over Italy on topics and priorities relating to teaching and training. The initiative is taking place in parallel with the meeting of the Education Ministers of the G7 countries scheduled in Trieste from 27 to 29 June 2024, chaired by the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, which also sees the presence of the European Commissioner to Education, the leaders of the African Union, the representatives of the main international organizations competent in the matter (OECD, UNESCO, UNICEF), the Global Partnership for Education, the Ukrainian Minister of Education and the Minister of Education of Brazil, current G20 Presidency.
A YounG7 delegation, 24 students, accompanied by teachers and trainers, therefore visited the Mosaic School of Friuli and participated in a workshop touching the materials, cutting and gluing the tiles, each creating a small work which is the result of contact and direct experience with the art of mosaic.
Sensations, ideas and information acquired will become the basis for the creation of their shared artistic project, developed on an objective for the “future school” which will be illustrated tomorrow, 29 June, in Lignano Sabbiadoro, at the Alpe Adria Arena, in the presence of the Minister Valditara.
Art therefore as a universal language, capable of transmitting a message that transcends borders and which becomes a free manifestation of needs, desires and wills that the school of the future is open to listening to and interpreting. An art chosen not by chance: the mosaic is to be considered an expression of the knowledge and tradition of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the region that hosts these two important events in the world of education.
Welcomed by the president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, who introduced them to the history and spaces of the School through a detailed visit, the YounG7 group then deepened their knowledge of the art of mosaic with the teachers of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli , in particular the master mosaicist Cristina De Leoni who oversaw the workshop with the support of some students of the specialization course. Each of the participants therefore tried their hand at composition, experiencing the art of mosaic as actors and not as passive users, prompting reflections on creativity, materiality, technique, tradition and communicative potential of art. All this content will be reworked in the working groups that are the basis of the YounG7 for education – Scuola Futura initiative where meetings, debates and training workshops are planned with a focus on arts, music, sport, food and digital media aimed at students and teachers in an innovative teaching path, capable of focusing on challenges and proposals in particular on global citizenship education with a view to peace and dialogue, on the development of STEM programs and interdisciplinarity, on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in teaching as a complementary tool that enhances the centrality of the person.
A moment of discussion therefore which, in addition to providing for the exchange and acquisition of skills, has as its aim the formulation of contents and proposals which see the school at the center of common growth and development, the valorisation of talents, without any exclusion, the support to innovative education, capable of reducing the gap between supply and demand of skills in the labor market, also through the acquisition of a wide range of knowledge and skills, linked to the objectives of addressing the green and digital transitions.
For the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, the presence of YounG7 represented recognition of its activity in the field of mosaic art training and its promotion. The effectiveness of the training method based on experience and the laboratory exchange between students and teachers, already in the planning phase, has attracted the interest of several teachers of the host group who, in addition to reporting the experience they have had to their educational institutions, will activate contacts to develop orientation paths. YounG7 at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is also proof that the art of mosaic is a vital expressive form, which although it has ancient roots, knows how to dialogue with the present, with the taste and needs of contemporaneity and the students of YounG7, enthusiastic of enthusiasm and energy, they will be able to demonstrate it with their works.
