Venezia Salone Artigianato 2023

At the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano

The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has been invited by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia to participate in the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano (Exhibition of High Italian Craftsmanship),  the first edition of a trade fair which is taking place at the Arsenale of Venice (from 28 September to 1 October 2023) and which intends to be a showcase of the excellence of Italian craftsmanship.

The School has therefore set up a space where it is possible to learn about the history and activity of this reality which has been engaged in the training and production of mosaic art for over a century. Witnesses of this are the master mosaic artists that the School wanted to be constantly present in the stand: the students Dalila Lojacono and Vsevolod Prokhorov of the 2023/2024 specialization course are busy talking to visitors and showing some characteristic aspects of the work including the cutting with the hammer on the block, the application of tiles in a composition, the mixing of colours.

The participation of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in this Venetian event is certainly a concrete result of the collaboration agreement signed last year between the School itself and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, but it is also an expression and recognition of the value that the Spilimbergo institution has at a national and international level, an institution that trains artists-craftsmen operating throughout the world in the mosaic and terrazzo sector, capable of managing all design and construction aspects.

Promoted by the Municipality of Venice and organized by Vela Spa as part of the project “Venice and its lagoon: management and valorisation of tourist flows”, the event is financed by the Ministry of Tourism for the valorisation of municipalities with a tourist-cultural vocation in which territories are located sites recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites.
The artisans present are over one hundred and come from all over Italy to highlight once again the importance and beauty of this inherited knowledge, in-depth and developed by skilled and patient hands, capable of creating true works of art. It is the demonstration of an artistic and cultural heritage which in its variety and diffusion characterizes the Italian territory in a special way. The master craftsmen, through creativity and talent, bring beauty and quality into everyday life, into the needs of contemporary life: at the fair you can admire the results of multiple sectors, from fine fabrics to ceramics, from jewelery to blown glass, from designer furniture to mosaic, told precisely by the expert hands of the masters of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
