Enthusiasm for the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Bratislava

The exhibition “The School mosaicists of Friuli” at the Galleria Eurovea in Bratislava in Slovakia ended with success of public and critics. In the concluding official ceremony, scheduled for this important event, were eloquent and felt the interventions of the illustrious personalities who have drawn all positive considerations on the exhibition: Ivan Gašparovic (President of the Republic Slovakia), Milan Ftácnik (mayor of Bratislava), Claudio Violino (Councillor for rural, agri-Food and forestry resources of the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia) and Renzo Francesconi (mayor of Spilimbergo) were welcomed on 31 October at the Eurovea Gallery by Lucio Masutti and Bruno Mrak (organizers of the exhibition, both of Friulan origin) and by Alido Gerussi (President of the School of Mosaicists of Friuli). The President of the Republic Slovaccagašparovic-among other things painter and art enthusiast-was so impressed by the mosaic works presented at the Bratislava Gallery, which spontaneously and out of program, wanted to host in the presidential seat Alido Gerussi, president of the school mosaicists, and the organizers of the exhibition musiva. The meeting was a time of exchange and proposals for the imminent future: the idea of creating a mosaic on the sketch of President Gašparovic, mosaic that will then be sold at auction and the proceeds destined for a Slovak orphanage, has sprung up. For the next year, however, there was talk of the possibility of setting up an exhibition in the presidential palace in Bratislava.
The exhibition just ended, staged in a modern and highly frequented space, presented several works created by the students of the school mosaicists of Friuli, showing mosaic copies of antiquity and the Middle Ages, but above all modern interpretations and Ranging from optical solutions, to plastic shapes, to abstract and figurative subjects of the twentieth and XXI century. The positive feedback of the exhibition represents a further testimony of how the mosaic is an art in step with the times, present in the expression, able to touch the contemporary sensibility. For the school, the success of this exhibition represents an incentive to continue with commitment in the highly qualified training, in the promotion, in the Mosaic research, supporting and enhancing in this way mosaics and mosaicists, with auspices of development and Growth for all.
