New initiative to support the training of young mosaic artists
Guaranteeing value and quality to the training of its students is a real commitment for the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, a priority that has not been neglected even during the months of epidemiological emergency.
The Support the School initiative expresses the conviction that students are at the center and that it is always possible to improve and increase the educational offer, paying attention to current trends, technical innovations, market needs and remaining faithful to culture and knowledge inherited from the artisan tradition of our region. For this purpose, it is now possible to make a contribution and support the School to maintain its international role as a center of higher education for mosaic. It can be done in three ways: through the purchase of works created in the educational field, with donations or by commissioning the execution of mosaics.
The works currently offered for sale, many of which already exhibited in the School Gallery, were designed and composed during meetings with artists or thematic seminars developed by the teachers. They are selected works, which not only express an artistic and decorative value, but can translate into concrete help to young people who come from all over the world to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli to learn mosaic. Buying one of these works means believing in the art of mosaic, in its future and in its potential; it means believing in a training course that offers students all the skills to choose, once they have obtained the qualification of Master Mosaicist, whether to open their own laboratory, intervene in construction sites with or establish themselves with creative and original solutions.
Everything starts from those tiles obtained from river pebbles and cut with the hammer: it is from this patient work that in the classrooms of the School one begins to be a mosaicist, as happened for past generations able to decorate churches, palaces and public spaces in all over Europe and overseas.
By supporting training and a high level of preparation, the younger generations who attend the School are guaranteed a job for the future and that professionalism, made up of technique and passion, which has earned the School so many awards, is transmitted.
