The president wanted to remember the works carried out by the students aimed at upgrading the area outside the school building, as evidenced by the lining of the fire escape and the mosaic installation “Urban Landscape” (designed By the artist Giulio Candussio) that decores the chimney in the school garden. This work has been realized thanks to the project “Start Up mosaico 2018”, Result of the collaboration With the Fondazione Friuli, with the objectives to renew the fundamental role of the synergies established by the Mosaicists school with the many productive realities of the region and to pay attention to the potential that the mosaic can have in the sectors of architecture and design.
Just with this perspective the school was delighted to participate in “Homo Faber. Crafting a more human future “, the great event on the European Artigian Excellence scheduled until September 30 in Venice, creating a mosaic floor for the architectural installation conceived by the designer and architect India Mahdavi, who expressed Great appreciation for the work done by the mosaicists.
Moreover, the mosaicists ‘ School of Friuli has retained its international dimension, welcoming also this year in its first students ‘ courses from all over the world, from Chile to Russia, from Canada to Kazakhstan; It must be said, however, that more than 50% of the new members come from our region. As usual the staff is full, while the rich educational program that will begin with the visit to “Homo Faber” is already established; The students will also have during the year the opportunity to deepen the history of the mosaic by making their own techniques, methodologies, the use of matter and color in the most diverse spaces and epochal contexts up to the contemporaneity. They will do research and experimentation, participate – living a formative experience on the field – at stages dedicated to the mosaic qualification of spaces of the school building and of the Mosaics Gallery, acquiring the basis to give voice to their Artistic expression.
The school, therefore, has the task of raising its pupils as mosaicists and as people, helping them to give the maximum and to pull out all the personal resources to keep alive an art that is passionate and has many potential.
