The 100th year exhibition has opened

This evening, Friday 29 July 2022, at 6.30 pm, the Mosaico&Mosaici exhibition, a summer appointment, and by now customary, of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli opened. This is the exhibition that describes the activities of the School through a selection of works created by the students during the training year that has just ended. This is a particular year because it coincides with the achievement of a century of life of the institution dedicated to the preparation of mosaic artists recognized all over the world for their skills
The Mosaico&Mosaici exhibition, an event awaited because it is always different and capable of surprising creativity and quality, in its twenty-eighth edition, was greeted by a very large audience that came for the inauguration from many parts of Italy and also from abroad.

Introduced by the president Stefano Lovison and the director of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli Gian Piero Brovedani, the mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli and the MEP Marco Dreosto, the regional councilor Stefano Zannier and the undersecretary of state Vannia Gava wanted to greet them.
After thanking for the heartfelt participation, President Lovison wanted to retrace the history of the School, made up of men who loved their work and their territory. “The School is the result of commitment and responsibility, qualities that directors, teachers, collaborators over the decades have been able to transmit to the many students capable of keeping a profession alive and exercising it in every part of the world,” he said. “Today this means enhancing the knowledge of our region, making a significant contribution to the economy and culture, making the beauty understood and developing the potential of the art of mosaic”.
The Director Brovedani underlined how the inauguration of this exhibition represents the end of the school’s hundredth formative year and he too wanted to underline the value of the commitment, referring, however, to current events: to the students to whom he has dedicated an applause for the responsibility and dedication to study and research, also considering the constraints imposed by the pandemic.
The mayor Sarcinelli spoke of honor referring to the close relationship between the town of Spilimbergo and the School which was located here a century ago. The School represents an institution that provides training, tourism, culture and in this completeness opens to the future in a positive and constructive way. The works that are affecting the School area, the two buildings on Viale Barbacane and the flooring of the outdoor space, supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region through the Municipal Administration, shape the link between the historic center of Spilimbergo and the School. A walk, a glance that will be characterized by the large mosaic flooring of 1,400 square meters that will occupy the School in the coming months.
Open to citizens, but more and more to the world with students who come from abroad and come to Spilimbergo since here is the center for the training and development of mosaic art. This, according to the Honorable Marco Dreosto, is a fundamental value of the School which has not only been able to adapt to changes, but by specializing has overcome the crisis experienced by vocational schools, becoming a pole of attraction at a global level for those who want to make mosaics.
The Region supports the School in its being an institution for high professional training, an excellence in the sector. Councilor Zannier expressed himself in this regard in highlighting how the Region can only support and support such an active reality, deeply integrated into the territory that through its mosaics brings the art and craftsmanship of Friuli Venezia Giulia to the world. A synergy between the School and the Region, but which also involves the State as Mr Gava remarked, because it is from this shared commitment that institutions can grow, improve and look to the future with positivity.

With an eye to the future, we wanted to celebrate the end of the 2021/2022 formative year with a cake in homage to the school’s hundredth anniversary, created and donated by the pastry chefs of Spilimbergo. A symbolic and auspicious cut in anticipation of the school start in September. To cheer the evening, in addition to the dessert, also other food and wine specialties of local companies. All those present then entered the School to visit the Mosaico&Mosaici 2022 exhibition which will be open every day, from 30 July to 28 August, from 10.00 to 12.30 and from 16.30 to 20.00. At the same time, it will also be possible to visit the Pictor Imaginarius exhibition set up in the adjacent building and dedicated to part of the many sketches and cartoons of mosaics preserved in the School Archive.
