The 101st formative year has begun
The inaugural ceremony of the 101st year of training of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli took place on the morning of September 26, 2022, at the Miotto Cinema-Theater in Spilimbergo.
The sixty students seated in the stalls were greeted by the President Stefano Lovison and the Director Gian Piero Brovedani. Also present were the Mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli and the Regional Councilor Stefano Zannier, who wanted to demonstrate their closeness to the historic institution of the mosaic and convey their good wishes to the students.
In welcoming, President Lovison recalled how the School stands out for its commitment, since its inception in 1922, to train Mosaic Masters capable of operating and competing in the market: highly qualified artisans in a sector, the mosaic one, who it has roots in tradition, but knows how to respond to the taste and demands of the contemporary world. He then praised the work of what he calls the “team”, that is the teachers and all the technical and administrative staff who make possible the many activities that occupy the School every day, making it a lively and proactive subject in the area.
The Mayor Sarcinelli, on behalf of the municipal administration, said he was proud to open the formative year, as a characterizing and significant moment for the School.
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is part of a network of realities and institutions that qualify the training, culture and promotion of the Spilimberghese. Spilimbergo welcomes the students of the School: they reside there for three years, live the life of the town and then leave it with nostalgia to take new paths supported by acquired skills and professionalism. If the last formative year (2021/2022) was the hundredth and as such it was celebrated, this year’s inauguration assumes the same importance because it confirms how the School continues to be a pole of interest and attraction for those who want to deepen the mosaic art.
Also Councilor Stefano Zannier, bringing greetings from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, wanted to recall the events for the centenary organized throughout 2022, in addition to the starting ceremony of this formative year. After underlining the importance of training to successfully enter the world of work, aware of the commitment that awaits students in the coming months, he encouraged them with a heartfelt wish.
The Director of the School Gian Piero Brovedani concluded the ceremony by announcing for the new path 2022/2023, among the many activities, collaborations with the University of Udine, in particular with the degree course in Architectural Sciences, with the Polo Tecnologico Alto Adriatico “Andrea Galvani” (High Adriatic Technological Center “Andrea Galvani”) and with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (Venice Civic Museums Foundation). He then introduced the teachers who will accompany the students in the coming months; students who, despite the excitement of the first day, later returned to school to conclude the morning lessons. They come from Friuli Venezia Giulia and other regions of Italy, but, as usual in the last decade, almost half come from abroad: Slovenia, Germany, France, Switzerland, Lithuania, Moldavia, Ukraine, Russia, Lebanon, South Korea, China. They are the ones who animate the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, an international center dedicated to mosaic, where the love for this art cancels distances and differences, even linguistic ones, a center where shared mosaic works are born and created in groups as moments of integration and cultural as well as economic and social development.
