The numbers of Mosaico&Mosaici confirm the success
The Mosaico&Mosaici exhibition, the annual summer event of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, inaugurated exactly one month ago, closed on Sunday 27 August 2023.
Open continuously throughout the month of August, it saw a large influx of visitors every day and today, with the data in hand, it is possible to affirm that the exhibition was a success.
In fact, there were over six thousand visitors: these were visitors who came to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli individually or in groups, coming not only from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, but from all over Italy and abroad, including Australia, Canada , the United States (including Hawaii), Venezuela, Mexico, and from Europe in general, from Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland. The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli therefore reconfirms itself as a center of attraction for international tourism, made up of connoisseurs, but also of curious people and art lovers who often, accompanied by family or friends, have stayed for a long time in the exhibition rooms of the School, enjoying every detail of the works, commenting, asking and sometimes even touching the fruits of the students’ work and commitment.
Returning to the numbers, in this edition, the twenty-ninth, of Mosaico&Mosaici, around a hundred new mosaic works, individual creations or group creations, were presented. These works show the evolution of the training path which from the Roman style of the first course, passing through the Byzantine figuration of the second, reaches the contemporary composition of the third. The exhibition is thus configured as a journey through the history of art where the mosaic, like any other expressive form, has changed over time following the historical-cultural and aesthetic transformations, as well as the needs of society.
Different every year, Mosaico&Mosaici is the synthesis of what was planned and executed within the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli during the past training year and always represents, even for loyal visitors, a surprise, since if the academic skills transferred to the students they do not change, however the way in which the teachers of the School develop them and propose them to the students is always different.
Satisfaction for the good result was expressed by Stefano Lovison, president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and by the director Gian Piero Brovedani. Both wanted, throughout the period of the exhibition, to make themselves available for special guided tours, a particularly appreciated added value, as well as having offered explanations and clarifications by accompanying tourists in the context of demonstrations and events included in the summer program of the Municipality of Spilimbergo.
The exhibition catalog was also a great success: the recent publication, which adds to the Mosaico&Mosaici series. Rich in images, the catalog reproduces the works on display accompanied by explanatory captions, but above all documents the activities and projects of the entire training year, 2022/2023.
Among the positive comments that visitors wanted to write on the blackboards of the laboratories and on the attendance register, we report one, significant of the experience lived at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli: “The beautiful world is here with you!”.
