The recognition of a national value

The recognition of a national value

To celebrate its hundred years, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli was received on the morning of November 30, 2021 by the President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati: a meeting that confirms what importance this institution has managed to achieve in the field of the arts.
With students from all over the world, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli confirms itself as an international reality, but this is possible because it is an expression of the quality, creativity, tradition and “know-how” that characterize Italian artisan and artistic excellence. Thus, since its origin, one hundred years ago, the School has inherited from its territory a wealth of knowledge and skills that it has been able to respect and cultivate, assuming a leading role in the social, cultural and artistic development of our region and of the whole nation.

This is the merit that the President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, flanked by Senator Salvatore Margiotta secretary of the Presidency Council of the Senate of the Republic, wanted to recognize the Friuli Mosaic School in a meeting that took place in Rome, at Palazzo Giustiniani, in the presence by Stefano Lovison president of the Consorzio per la Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and by the director Gian Piero Brovedani, together with the mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli.
The activity of the School began almost a century ago, on 22 January 1922, precisely in Spilimbergo with the aim of preparing young people for a job which, although it did not prevent them from emigrating, distinguished them from other workers on construction sites all over the world. and improved their fortunes.

President Casellati focused precisely on the training task, praising the quality of a School that has made its history and experience its own and makes the mosaic tradition alive by transmitting to its students the skills necessary for a professional future. Added to this is the constant promotion and research in this art that speaks Italian, and which knows how to be as ancient as it is current if declined in forms and solutions capable of responding to the tastes and needs of the present.

Public testimony of the value that the School has assumed through its long and intense journey, this meeting highlights the significant contribution that the School has made and continues to give to the reputation of creativity and manual and technical skills typical of Italy.

The President was given the first copy of the book Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli 1922-2022. 100 years of history, a book that traces the history of the School and documents its works through the rich photographic apparatus. The book is flanked by a mosaic made by the students of the a.f. 2021/2022: it represents the guiding image for all the events dedicated to the centenary of the School scheduled for next year and is a tangible expression of the students’ will to be close and present in celebrating their School. The Municipality of Spilimbergo honored the President with the reproduction of the Gold Medal for civil value.

“The recognition received by the President of the Senate Casellati” declared Stefano Lovison at the end of the meeting “honors us and encourages us to pursue the path of research and improvement. If the School has reached this goal it is due to those who with dedication and commitment have always worked for its good and contributed to its growth. We want to give credit to all of them. This official appointment was for us confirmation of the importance and the task that the School has in the field of mosaic art. We feel the weight of responsibility, but we are aware that we can still learn a lot from our history and that the future holds great opportunities for us to seize».
