Two exhibitions in California with works by the students of the School

In the United States, in these weeks, two exhibitions can be visited which display works by the students of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli. The theme of both is the portrait: the mosaic interpretation of the face of a well-known person who is easily recognizable by the public. These mosaic portraits were created by the students of the third course as part of the Mosaic Young Talent competition, promoted and curated since 2016 by the Naonis Cultural Association. Through the various editions of the competition, a rich collection has been created from the selection of which the two American exhibitions were born.
50 faces: Italian Mosaics from the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli hosted at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, Southern California, started on Thursday 15 July 2021 and will be open until Thursday 7 October 2021. The exhibition consists of over 50 mosaic portraits and a series of historical and current photographs of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.

More recently, on Saturday 11 September, he inaugurated at the Marin Moca-Museum of contemporary art of Novato Italian American Icons: mosaic portraits, open until Sunday 7 November 2021. Already in 2019 the Marin Moca had welcomed the exhibition 50 faces collection, curated , like the current ones, by Guglielmo Zanette, artistic director of the Naonis Cultural Association: he presented for the first time in America the portraits participating in the Mosaic Young Talent, previously exhibited in Pordenone in the annual Icons of Art exhibition. The success of the exhibition was determined by the intervention of two mosaic artists, qualified at the School, who for the whole period of the exhibition accompanied the visitors with demonstrations, lessons and conferences. This interesting solution that enhances the experiential aspect, is now proposed by Marin Moca hosting another former student of the School, overseas ambassador of mosaic art.
