The new Mosaic Masters of 2024
Another training cycle ends at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
The new Mosaic Masters are celebrated with a ceremony.
With a heartfelt ceremony, held on Friday 14 June 2024 at Palazzo la Loggia, in Piazza del Duomo in Spilimbergo, the professional qualification certificates were awarded to the students who brilliantly passed the exams, thus concluding their three-year training course at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
The protagonists of the event were: Corinna Bizzocchi, Denise Carati, Maria Giulia Cicognani, Erika Fantin, Anna Fontana, Valentina Gola, Aurora Margarita, Soline Marie Catherine Martin, Alex Perosa and Elena Valentini.
Present at the ceremony were the president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli Stefano Lovison, the director Gian Piero Brovedani, all the teachers and the technical and administrative staff as well as relatives and friends of those celebrating: the new Mosaic Masters.
In starting the ceremony, President Lovison wanted first of all to congratulate the students for having reached the coveted goal and then underlined how much they are the fulcrum of the School which, together with the teachers, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, of the Municipality of Spilimbergo and all the bodies belonging to the Consortium for the Mosaic School of Friuli, has been able to grow and renew itself. For the Municipality of Spilimbergo it was the councilor Ester Filipuzzi who brought her greetings, underlining her desire to always be present at this festive event where in addition to the students, the families on the front line in supporting their children in this educational choice must also be remembered . In his hope for the students to see their abilities and their art recognized in the imminent future, the councilor concluded with a warm wish for satisfaction and joy. Even if these students have finished their training course, their School, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli will always be open, ready to welcome and support them because from this moment, highlighted director Brovedani, “you have officially entered the great family of mosaicists who have able to innovate the art of mosaic while respecting tradition”. He then continued by expressing praise for the teaching staff of the School, capable of transferring not only notions, but also the skills gained over time and passion to the students.
Called one at a time, the ten students, amidst applause and photos, collected their professional qualification certificate.
For the School, this ceremony is a very participatory moment: due to the way the training course is structured, in such a laboratory manner and with a strong student-teacher relationship, the delivery of the Master Mosaicist certificates represents the achievement of a goal, a success for the School itself. Three years ago, in September 2021, these now former students arrived at the School, aware of wanting to learn the art of mosaic. They were different ages, different life stories, they had made a bet on themselves and on the mosaic and this united them. The distance from home, the intense hours in the laboratory, the many hours of exercising patience, the hands, the eyes were not seen as impediments, there was a goal to achieve, an artistic and professional dream that every day, lesson after lesson , has become closer and more concrete.
There are those from France and Venice, already involved in the restoration work, who understood that the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli would provide a base of essential technical knowledge to do their job better. Those from Friuli Venezia Giulia who had visited the School as a child, thanks to their parents and teachers, and, struck by it, had then chosen their path, waiting for their secondary school diploma to make a long-cherished desire come true. Those who, coming from other parts of Italy, had identified the School as the right place to give shape and content to that creative spirit that had gone unheard in the name of a career and a secure job. Here is the satisfaction of having reached the finish line, on a path that was almost never downhill and which was able to test tenacity, determination and strength of mind. However, these are qualities which, beyond the knowledge of materials and executive solutions, are required in the world of work and give added value to such a specific and highly qualified professional profile as that of the Master Mosaicist.
Several doors are now opening to new Mosaic Masters: many of them have already planned a summer of activity, some even have a contract already in their pocket, there are those who will not abandon Spilimbergo and its surroundings, referring to the various mosaic workshops in the area . Now another chapter of their life yet to be written begins, the professional one: the students are aware of this, but they are also sure that the technical and human skills acquired will be a foundation capable of supporting any experience they wish to undertake.
