Success for FAI Spring Days 2025
Great and unexpected, given the less-than-favourable weather conditions, was the success of the Giornate FAI di Primavera (FAI Spring Days) 2025 where the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli was visited by more than 1,500 people in two days, making it the number one site in the Pordenone area and one of the five most visited sites in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
Satisfaction was expressed by Spilimbergo FAI delegation head Andrea Spagnol: «We are thrilled with the success of the two days. Although the weather was not favourable, the influx of visitors was constant and their enthusiasm was palpable. The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli opened its workshops, showing what the students are making, and gave its support to the Apprendisti Ciceroni (Apprentice Tour Guides), who were able to be engaging, conveying interest and passion for the art of mosaics». He continued: «The Apprendisti Ciceroni (Apprentice Tour Guides) Project is a demonstration of how young people are connected to their local area. The FAI conceived it and cultivates it with the ultimate goal of making young people fall in love with their heritage, landscape and cultural assets. They are secondary school students who make themselves available to guide the public in getting to know special places. It is they who tomorrow will pick up the baton to preserve, conserve and love the cultural heritage that, through experiences like these, we try to make them appreciate».
It was certainly an intense and demanding two days for the group of Young Tour Guides present at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli. Well-prepared and friendly: Erminia, Noemi, Alison, Cristal, Antonio, Elena, Sali and Sheng from the IIS Il Tagliamento tourist school in Spilimbergo, as well as Eros from the IIS Evangelista Torricelli in Maniago and Paola, Dario and Azzurra from the IIS Federico Flora in Pordenone, proved to be up to the task. They are to be applauded for their preparation, dedication and charisma in coping with the numerous curiosities of the visitors. Always smiling, they welcomed and accompanied the guests, highlighting techniques and expressive forms of the various mosaics.
Satisfaction was also expressed by Stefano Lovison, president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, on seeing the spaces of the School crowded by a passionate and curious public.
With the FAI, through the important initiative of the Spring Days, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has thus once again confirmed itself as a cultural reference point for the Friuli Venezia Giulia region with its unique heritage of mosaic works.
