Mosaico&Mosaici. A hit with the public from day one

It is well known that Mosaico&Mosaici is an eagerly awaited event for mosaic lovers, but the number of visitors in these first few days confirms that the exhibition organised by the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is one of the major events of the regional summer.

Inaugurated on Friday 25 July 2025, Mosaico&Mosaici was visited by over a thousand people during its first weekend, including visitors from outside the region. The book of signatures and comments left spontaneously by visitors speaks for itself: there are numerous foreign guests and many visitors from different parts of Italy.

The formula is well-established and successful, and this year is no exception: the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli presents a selection of the best works created during the 2024/2025 training course, which has just come to an end. These are new and original mosaics and projects that are a real marvel for the public and give credit to the work carried out by the school’s students and teachers.

Traditional references can be admired alongside experimental pieces, classic Roman-style mosaics or contemporary interpretations, from geometric shapes to design, from natural materials to Venetian enamels, leather and hide, from two-dimensional surfaces to solid plasticity: in short, such variety that, while presenting the styles of Greek-Roman, Byzantine, modern and contemporary mosaic art, it exhibits creativity, innovation, contamination and combinations. In a word, the exhibition is “surprising”: for the high quality craftsmanship and artistry of the mosaics on display and for their ability to fit in with the taste and expressiveness of the current era.

This is Mosaico&Mosaici, an exhibition that speaks of the vitality, strength and possibilities of mosaic art, which is a universal language that transcends boundaries and touches the heart. This is the cultural heritage that the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli cultivates daily through mosaic art, in an atmosphere of sharing and cooperation, welcoming anyone who wants to learn more about this ancient art, once widespread in the Mediterranean and from there to the East, by expert and sought-after “magistri” and now exported by students of over twenty nationalities, trained in a three-year course, confident Master Mosaicists who, like tiles, make up a great and widespread global artistic heritage.
