Oltre il Confine Festival: art as a language
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli will be taking part in the Oltre il Confine Festival (Beyond the Border Festival), an event organised by the Progetto Autismo FVG association.
The director of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Gian Piero Brovedani, will be among the participants at the seventh event, entitled ‘Art as Vision: The Gesture Beyond Limits’, which will take place on Friday 23 October 2026 at 4.00 pm at the Teatro Maurensig in Feletto Umberto – Tavagnacco (UD), and will also feature guests Dario Ballantini, Don Alessio Geretti and the masters from the Noway/Nouei atelier.
The event focuses on art as a means of communication beyond the limits of language, where colour and material succeed in giving form to each person’s inner world. Art is therefore not viewed as a mere form of self-expression or a therapeutic pastime, but as the language of choice for neurodiversity and a radical tool for exploring identity. In a world that often demands rigid standards of communication, the ‘artistic gesture’ becomes an escape route towards absolute freedom, capable of transcending all cognitive or physical limitations.
Through dialogue between nationally renowned artists, experts in theology and aesthetics, the leadership of the prestigious regional mosaic institution and the master craftsmen of the Foundation’s Atelier, the event explores how the creative act can serve as a universal bridge, enabling people with autism to express their inner selves. In this context, the work of art ceases to be merely an aesthetic object and becomes the young person’s most authentic identity document.
