Giornate FAI di primavera. Visits to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli
For the thirtieth edition of the Giornate FAI di Primavera (FAI Spring Days), the traditional awareness and fundraising event of the FAI, the Italian Environment Fund, the Mosaic School of Friuli opens its doors thanks to the collaboration of the FAI Group of Spilimbergo and the Delegation of Pordenone.
The two-day program, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March 2022, for the Pordenone area was presented at a press conference on Monday 21 March 2022 in the presence of the President of the School, Stefano Lovison. Just to commemorate the centenary of this historic institution, the FAI Group of Spilimbergo has prepared a rich program of openings which has the mosaic as its theme. Six openings are scheduled, starting with theScuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, which since 1922 has trained skilled artists, who have given international fame to the city of Spilimbergo. There will then be the opportunity to visit various companies, such as Mosaicpro, the workshop of master Rino Pastorutti, the firm Travisanutto Giovanni – Artistic Mosaics, (exceptionally open to the public only on the afternoon of Friday 25 March 2022). With regard to the creation of the raw material, the tiles, the Mario Donà Mosaici company opens its doors and shows how glazes are produced. In addition to these four sites, which present different moments in the creative and executive phase of the mosaic, visits to two residences in the area: Villa Magenta, richly decorated with admirable mosaics from the Avon family of artists, and Villa Petri, built in the early years of twentieth century. Also scheduled are walks through the ancient streets of the village to discover the many open-air mosaics of Spilimbergo, departing from the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli at 11:00 and 14:30, both on Saturdays and Sundays.
The visits to the Mosaic School of Friuli will be introduced by the young “apprentice ciceroni” of the Higher Institute “Il Tagliamento” in Spilimbergo – tourist address.
All visitors will be welcomed by the FAI volunteers’ banquet located near the great work dedicated to the school’s hundred years and visible both from via Corridoni and from viale Barbacane. Accompanied by the “ciceroni” you will enter from the south entrance about every twenty minutes, from 10.00 to 17.30 (last entrance at 17.00). Must be equipped with super green pass and FFP2 mask. After the welcome where the history of the School will be illustrated, visitors will be free to walk the corridors, enter the laboratories and observe the mosaics on which the students are studying and working, climb the monumental staircase and admire the contemporary works on the first floor.
Ciceroni, FAI volunteers and staff of the School will be available to provide other news and curiosities. Reservation is not required.
