President Lovison was reconfirmed

The Assembly of the Consortium for the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli met on Tuesday afternoon 5 July 2022.

On the agenda, among the various topics, the entry of a new body, the Municipality of Morsano al Tagliamento, which brings the number of members to 56, including local authorities and various trade associations. There was also the approval of the final balance 2021 which closes positively both in the economic sphere and in that of the activities carried out, promptly described in the President’s report.

Subsequently, the Assembly proceeded to the election of the President, whose mandate is five years, unanimously confirming its trust in Stefano Lovison, who was congratulated for the work done.
Entrepreneur from Spilimbergo, Stefano Lovison since 2017 has made his experience, his relations with the territory and above all a constant enthusiasm and inexhaustible energy available to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.

In the past five years, the School has received national and international recognition: how can we not mention the welcome received by the President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati for the centenary of the School or the visits of the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia, of the President of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga, of political, religious and law enforcement representatives, personalities from the world of art and culture, leading figures of national associations.
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has consolidated itself as an artistic and cultural center, the only place where you can achieve professional training in the field of mosaic and terrazzo, so 40% of the students come from abroad to obtain the qualification of Master Mosaicist.
The School was also a guest at events, exhibitions, reviews, last but not least, its participation in Homo Faber 2022, an important biennial event in Venice dedicated to high craftsmanship. An agreement was signed with the FAI which highlights the uniqueness of the School as an exhibition gallery-art laboratory, where a visit allows not only to understand how many forms of the mosaic are, but highlights a “know-how”, an expression authentic Made in Italy, which has its origins in western Friuli. The School of this tradition is indebted and looks to its territory to restore and cultivate what it has inherited. President Stefano Lovison has worked in this direction, seeking and establishing collaborations to start innovative works and projects where it is clear that mosaic, an ancient art, is capable of being current and responding to contemporary needs and tastes. This is also evidenced by the agreement signed with the Venice Civic Museums Foundation and in particular with the Glass Museum, strengthening the bond that united the Friulian terrace and mosaic workers with the rich lagoon city since the sixteenth century.
A five-year period also marked by the pandemic to which the School has responded by putting the interest of the students at the center and activating strategies so that laboratory teaching, the heart of training and the transfer of skills, does not fail.

In the last ten years, the organizations belonging to the Consortium for the Friuli Mosaic School have more than doubled to represent the regional territory more and more also in its cultural, economic and development interests. Gathered in the Assembly, these Bodies have once again expressed their desire to affirm the Friuli School of Mosaics as “the institution of mosaics”, hoping that the excellent work done so far can continue in the future.
