The collaboration with the Municipality of Spilimbergo for the hundred years of the School
The program of events that the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is organizing for 2022, the year in which it will celebrate 100 years of history, is increasingly being defined. Meetings, exhibitions and various activities will take place over twelve months thanks also to the collaboration of local legal entities and institutions: first of all the Municipality of Spilimbergo which immediately expressed its will to support and actively participate in the celebrations of the important anniversary.
This support was again confirmed in the recent meeting held at Palazzo di Sopra in the presence of the Mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli, the Councilor for Productive Activities and the Promotion of the City of Mosaics Anna Bidoli, the Manager of the Culture Area Marco Attilio Salvadori, of the President of the Consorzio per la Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli Stefano Lovison and the Director of the School Gian Piero Brovedani. It is a scientific and economic commitment that the Municipality plans to implement also to relaunch the image of Spilimbergo as a Mosaic City and to give greater centrality to this ancient and traditional form of art in the context of production and tourism activities. The will is to make Spilimbergo a center of international importance for mosaics, a point of reference not only in the field of production, but also for the study and widespread knowledge.
Meanwhile, the articulated and rich program of events is becoming more and more defined: exhibitions, conferences, workshops, publications, informative events to tell the history of the School, but also to take stock of the art of mosaic, its relationship with architecture and design, to talk about craftsmanship, to present works from the past and the present, to meet internationally professors, to welcome curious and interested visitors, to activate citizenship with its memories and expectations.
Great attention will be given to the various local and trade associations that the Municipality hopes to involve through the organization of working groups in order to create a virtuous circle that, by exploiting these celebrations, will bring a positive economic impact on the activities of the municipal area and beyond.
The Hundred Years of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli will therefore be a choral moment not only to retrace the past of the institution which since 1922 has trained qualified and esteemed Mosaic Masters, but above all to think about the future development of a town that has its own cultural heritage in the mosaic, expression of a traditional and identifying “know-how”.
