The descendants of Friulian emigrants approach the mosaic

After the shutdown imposed by the pandemic, the laboratories of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli once again hosted the descendants of Friulian emigrants for a two-week mosaic course.

The initiative promoted by the Ente Friuli nel Mondo, in collaboration with the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and thanks to the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, offers the possibility to young fellow countrymen abroad to have a travel experience and get to know the territory from where their family comes from. The mosaic course allows you to approach a peculiar art of our region, the mosaic, and to get in touch with a tradition and a history that characterizes western Friuli. A training activity therefore which involved, from 28 November to 9 December 2022, eight young people of five different nationalities. Francesca and Isabella Cockcroft arrived from South Africa, both graduates in graphics; from Belgium Jonas Del Turco doctorate in management and multimedia; from Argentina Alejandrina Maria Filipuzzi, with a degree in political science, and Nicolas Francisco Carollo, architect; from Brazil Leandro Jung, graduated in visual arts, and Bianca Bassan Aita Fazul with a degree in mechanics; finally from Uruguay Elis Carolina Borges university student in nutrition. The group followed the lessons with the master mosaicist Mohamed Chabarik, qualified at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and owner of the Carraro Chabarik laboratory.

During their stay in Italy, the fellow countrymen also had the opportunity to visit various important places in our region and a trip to Venice was not lacking.
