A mosaic as a prize at the Aquileia Film Festival
The 15th edition of the Aquileia Film Festival is taking place in these early days of August: an international review of archaeological cinema which, in addition to presenting films and documentaries, alternates moments of discussion, interviews with experts, presentations and other events in the name of archaeology. and history.
Numerous films will be shown to the public from 30 July to 6 August 2024, who will be asked to express a preference: the most voted film will receive the Aquileia Award, a mosaic work created by the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
The Aquileia Foundation turned to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli to be able to pay homage to the winner with a prize that would be a symbol of the Roman city of Aquileia and above all of its mosaic richness, a UNESCO heritage site. Testina Ideale (Ideal Head), this is the title of the evocative mosaic, reproduces a female face in Hellenistic style with polychrome marble tiles. It is a faithful copy of a fragment, dating back to the 2nd century, which was delivered by the president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, to the president of the Aquileia Foundation, Roberto Corciulo, during the first evening of the Festival, on 30 July. The prize will instead be awarded on the evening of Friday 2 August to the director of the film most voted and appreciated by the public.
The Festival is organized by the Aquileia Foundation together with Archeologia Viva and Firenze Archeofilm, with the support of PromoTurismoFvg and Cassa Rurale Fvg and the patronage of ENIT – National Tourism Agency, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, of the Municipality of Aquileia and the Basilica of Aquileia and is part of the Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital route – GO! 2025.
