FIDAPA Pordenone: Winged Victory Award 2025 to women pharmacists
As per tradition, a mosaic, designed and created by a student of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, will become the concrete sign of an award that FIDAPA – Pordenone section wanted to assign to female pharmacists in the Pordenone area.
In a packed Council Chamber in Pordenone’s City Hall, the ceremony dedicated to the Vittoria Alata 2025 Prize was held on Wednesday 21 May 2025, which the FIDAPA (Italian Federation of Women in Arts, Professions and Business) association organises to emphasise the importance of the role played by women in the economic, scientific and artistic sectors, highlighting their qualities of dedication, competence and professionalism expressed in the workplace.
The biennial award, desired and conceived in 2006 by the then FIDAPA president Romanina Santin, was later accompanied by a concrete sign that could remain in the territory. Thus, the proposal was born of a competition among the students of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli who were called upon to design a sketch on figures of women capable of making a contribution to the development of western Friuli. Figures considered in recent years include: the women workers in cotton mills, the schoolteachers born before 1940, the women of Galvani and the nurses of hospitals and hospices capable of withstanding the harsh impact of the pandemic. Today, FIDAPA wanted to pay tribute to the pharmacists in the province of Pordenone who were born before 1960, who carry out their profession with competence and commitment, not forgetting to take care of relations with patients and those who turn to them for more technical reasons.
This latter aspect was the focus of the mosaic sketch imagined by student Mariia Amosova, who is attending the last course at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and who came to Spilimbergo from Moscow to become a Master Mosaicist.
The sketch shows a woman in a lab coat who, amidst flasks and bottles, looks proudly at the result of her preparation, a medicine that is the fruit not of magic obtained with her caduceus, the winged staff with the two snakes that she holds in her left hand, but with scientific knowledge and practice, the result of study and not improvisation. This appears to be a metaphor for the work that Mariia Amosova is preparing to carry out in the near future, when her mosaic works will not be the development of creative improvisation, but the natural achievement of a project studied in all its stylistic and expressive components, as one learns during one’s training at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
The winning pupil’s sketch was made public during the event organised by FIDAPA, and on that occasion Mariia Amosova was awarded in the presence of the mayor of Pordenone Alessandro Basso, the president of FIDAPA-Pordenone Maria Luisa Casucci, the godmother and creator of the Prize Romanina Santin the president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, and its director Gian Piero Brovedani, Morena Cristofori president of the jury for the young mosaicist award, the president of the Order of Pharmacists, Andrea De Toni, and Fernando Biagio Rizzo representing Banca 360 FVG.
The mosaic, which will soon be executed in the workshops of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, will give concrete form and testimony to the role played by women, particularly pharmacists, in history, but above all in everyday life, the awareness of a concrete contribution to well-being and quality of life.
