Guests at Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Artistico
Once again this year, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has been invited to participate in the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano (Italian Fine Craftsmanship Exhibition), which will take place from 2 to 5 October 2025 at the Arsenale in Venice.
Now in its third edition, the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano is a showcase of excellence that supports and promotes the creativity and technique of master craftsmen in various fields. Within this fair, which showcases the high quality of Italian craftsmanship, there is a section curated by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (Venice Civic Museums Foundation) dedicated to schools and institutes of art and higher education that preserve and transmit craftsmanship knowledge, training new generations of masters and professionals. For the third consecutive year, the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia has asked the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli to participate and share its experience.
With its own dedicated space, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli can thus present itself to the public at the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano: During the three days of the fair, master mosaicists will recount the history, works and training they underwent to become professionals in the art of mosaics. There will also be practical demonstrations, always impressive and attractive, to discover the care and work behind each mosaic.
But that’s not all: the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli has also been asked to take part in an open meeting, which will bring together students, teachers and institutions to reflect together on the future of the arts and crafts. The public talk entitled Artistic Crafts: Museums in Dialogue with Schools will take place on Thursday 3 October from 11:00 to 12:30 at the Torre di Porta Nuova and will see the participation of various national organisations selected by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia for their commitment and projects in the field of training, combining tradition and artistic and artisanal innovation.
At this important moment of discussion, which offers young people new prospects not only in terms of employment but also in terms of personal and professional satisfaction and fulfilment, Stefano Lovison and Gian Piero Brovedani, respectively president and director of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, will take the floor.
On issues related to artistic craftsmanship and the arts and crafts, the exchange and collaboration between the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia actually dates back to 2022, when a memorandum of understanding was signed to develop and promote research, training and dissemination in the field of mosaic and glass art, with the sharing of research, knowledge and tools aimed precisely at pursuing constant improvement in training and artistic-artisan dissemination and promotion.
The participation in the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano confirms the importance of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli not only in the art of mosaics as an international institution that disseminates, researches and innovates, but also as a training model capable of preserving and protecting the craftsmanship that is increasingly valued, as confirmed by the success of the Venetian fair.
