Nemo Gonano Award 2023
The scholarship was awarded today by the Maniago-Spilimbergo Rotary Club in memory of Nemo Gonano, late member of the Club and president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in the 1990s.
This is an award, in its third edition, which is awarded to the student of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli who has distinguished himself most in the final essay of the second course.
In the Aula Magna of the School, this morning, 15 December 2023, the awards ceremony took place with the awarding of the scholarship to the student Corinna Bizzocchi by the president of the Maniago-Spilimbergo Rotary Club, Moreno Dal Pont who illustrated, in front of the audience of students and teachers, the reasons for the choice.
Commitment, dedication, ability to learn, but also the search for perfection and passion for the art of mosaic: these are the words read by Rotarian Angelica Peresan to summarize the training path of student Bizzocchi who created the face of a Byzantine Madonna on a background gold.
Also present at the ceremony was Erica Gonano, mayor of the Municipality of Prato Carnico, in whose town of Pesariis Nemo Gonano was born and where the winning work will be exhibited in the museum dedicated to another great “artisanal knowledge” of our region, that of watchmaking.
The ceremony was an opportunity to remember, through the words of the vice president of the Rotary Club Gino de Mattia, the figure of politician and man of institutions such as that of Nemo Gonano, who in his activity paid particular attention to social aspects and training, but he was also a great scholar of history and culture, writer and heartfelt publicist.
«It is our wish» we read in the award letter addressed to the winner «that this scholarship will provide you with the opportunity to further pursue your artistic interests and to carry forward the prestige of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in an even more significant way and may Rotary remember in the future an Association of people who dedicate themselves to serving the community, making different professional figures available, to be an example to the whole society to bring about significant and lasting changes, as Nemo Gonano was for this School and on the territory, to which this scholarship is entitled».
At the end of the ceremony, the president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, wanted to pay homage to the guests who attended with the most recent publication edited by the School, the catalog of the Mosaico&Mosaici 2023 exhibition with the best results of the 2022/2023 training year.
