Scuola della Montagna: mosaic and tourism
The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, yesterday, Thursday 12 September 2024, gave its contribution to the Scuola della Montagna-Mountain School, a project of the University of Udine aimed at promoting and experimenting with innovative teaching on themes characterizing the mountain area to encourage social recovery and economic development of the Friulian Dolomites area by investing in the training of human capital.
The training morning, dedicated to the relationship between craftsmanship and tourism, was in fact hosted in Spilimbergo, in the Aula Magna of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli. On the idea of the president Stefano Lovison, invited to give a presentation on the experience in the tourism sector of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, the participants of the course, managed by the University, were also able to visit the School, putting themselves in the role of tourists or rather of travelers open to experiencing a place and not just enjoying it.
In the first part of the morning, Professor Gian Pietro Zaccomer of the University of Udine developed the theme of slow tourism and slow mobility in mountain areas with a particular focus on tourism which has photography as its interest.
This was followed by the testimony of the Consorzio Coltellinai Maniago which presented the history of an organization that represents the economy, history and production of an area known for its blades.
Closing was the speech by the president of the Consorzio per la Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, who then invited the participants to get to know the mosaic up close in an exclusive tour that allowed everyone to touch the stones and enamels, to hear the sound of the hammers, to understand the evolution of the projects and the technical and expressive care that is the basis of every work of the School.
A source of livelihood for many families since the sixteenth century, the mosaic is one of the many lines that can be followed to tell the story of Western Friuli, of yesterday and today, to promote and enhance it certainly in the eyes of tourists, but also of the younger communities who they live there.
