The Association of Mayors Emeritus visits the School
The Association of Mayors Emeritus of Friuli Venezia Giulia wanted to testify its esteem and appreciation to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in its hundredth year of activity.
On Thursday 12 May 2022, a large delegation met Stefano Lovison, president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, and paid tribute to an institution defined as “the pride of our Region in the world”. This can be read on the parchment that seals the meeting and that the president of the Association, Elio di Giusto, wanted to deliver to the School together with a book that traces the role of mayors when Italy became a Republic.
The Regional Association formerly Mayors of Friuli Venezia Giulia has cultural and moral purposes and aims to enhance the wealth of knowledge and experience of those who have held the office of Mayor, to spread and promote friendship and collaboration between communities and between peoples in a perspective that goes beyond national borders.
The former Mayors visited the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli accompanied by President Lovison who showed them the recent works created by the students and presented the current and future projects, such as the redevelopment of the outdoor space between green flower beds, mosaic sculptures and the large floor. which will surround the buildings overlooking via Barbacane.
The illustrious guests had had, in the past and in different situations, the opportunity to enter the School, but it was exciting for everyone to retrace those corridors where new mosaics document the constant commitment of teachers and students. This formative contribution, which, as President Elio di Giusto pointed out, the School has continuously addressed to the new generations in one hundred years of activity, has made it possible to prepare and qualify Mosaic Masters who work all over the world. A responsibility of which the former mayors understand the burden and the effort. Then there was the amazement for the variety and beauty of the works performed, also manifested in front of the students of the specialization course, intent on hammering and patiently applied tiles, at the elaboration of the work for the Mosaic Symposium in Lignano Pineta, expected in June.
