The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli connected to ultra-broadband
It was announced on Wednesday 7 February 2024, by the regional councilor for Information Systems Sebastiano Callari, the entry of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli to the fiber optic infrastructure or rather the connection to ultra-broadband. This intervention is part of a large project which aims to connect 191 schools in Friuli Venezia Giulia and 287 local public administration offices at high speed.
In Spilimbergo the works were recently completed and involved 26 locations including 5 schools. The connectivity activated at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, with a speed of 1Gbps, symbolically represents the final phase of activation of the service at all the locations foreseen by the first batch of works in the municipalities of Latisana, Codroipo and Spilimbergo.
In the Aula Magna of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, councilor Callari presented the overall ultra-broadband project worth almost 20 million euros, which sees the commitment of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Region, the company Infratel Italia S.p.A. and INSIEL S.p.A. Among the objectives set is also that of guaranteeing 1 Gbps connectivity and a minimum guaranteed bandwidth of 100 Mbps to all lower and upper secondary schools and most primary schools.
The president of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Stefano Lovison, in greeting those present, the councilor Callari, the mayor of Spilimbergo Enrico Sarcinelli and the managers of INSIEL and the regional directorate of heritage, state property, general services and information systems, expressed himself focused on the opportunity received. «The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli» he declared «preserves and transmits a know-how inherited from tradition, that of mosaic, but it is a reality that lives in its time and, as contemporary expression and feeling pass into the forms and styles of art, so too the structure and services of the training institute are committed to responding to the needs of current events, offering students and teaching and administrative staff all the possibilities to carry out their work in the best possible way. Looking at and taking care of a tradition typical of our territory does not mean denying the present, on the contrary, the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli is proud today to inaugurate its connection to ultra-broadband (Bul)».
Councilor Callari recalled the great work that the Region is doing not only to reduce the digital divide but to make the IT system of Friuli Venezia Giulia even more efficient. «We decided to start with this operation from Spilimbergo – recalled Callari – because the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli represents an excellence of Friuli Venezia Giulia recognized everywhere. The ultra-broadband connection will allow the Institute to be connected to the network in an even more efficient way, virtually exporting its artistic beauties throughout the rest of the world».
