International conference on Roman mosaic
An international conference dedicated to mosaics in Roman times will take place on Tuesday 10 October 2023 at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli.
This is the first edition of a study day which sees the participation of researchers from various countries, in particular from Romania. In fact, in the first morning session, speakers will be: Irina Sodoleanu and Maria Bolocan from the Museum of National History and Archeology of Constanta (Romania), Francisco Peñalver from the Archaeological Museum of Cehegín, (Spain), Oana Grigoruță, Museum of National History and Archeology of Constanta ( Romania). This will be followed by the afternoon reports by: Mario Cesarano of the ABAP Superintendence – for the metropolitan area of Naples, Daniela Stratides of the Museum of National History and Archeology of Constanza (Romania) and Paolo Tomasella of the ERPAC – Ente Regionale per il Patrimonio Culturale, Villa Manin of Passariano – Udine.
The event, which can also be followed in streaming, was organized by the Association of Eastern European Countries (Murcia, Spain), the Museum of National History and Archeology of Constanta and the Center for the Studies of Sea Civilizations Nero (Romania), by the Institute of the Romanian Language (Bucharest, Romania), and has the patronage of the Consulate General of Romania in Trieste.
The theme of the conference will be the Roman mosaic, in-depth both in its technical and iconographic aspects.
