Technical Restoration Course. Starts in SEPTEMBER

The Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and in collaboration with the Aquileia Foundation, is offering a two-year course leading to a qualification as a Cultural Heritage Restoration Technician – specialising in stone, mosaic and related materials.

The course is scheduled to start in September 2026.

The course is free of charge and leads to the qualification of restoration technician, a professional role requiring a high level of technical expertise and practical skills, working alongside the restorer in the restoration, maintenance and conservation of mosaic and stone artworks.

The course will take place in Spilimbergo, at the headquarters of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, and comprises 1,320 hours of practical and theoretical training, plus 880 hours of work placement at archaeological sites.

Admission is open to those who are of legal age, resident in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and hold a diploma from an art school or a diploma in applied arts, a qualification as a master mosaicist, a diploma from an Academy of Fine Arts, a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in humanities or technical-scientific subjects relevant to the field of cultural heritage, or ITS Academy qualifications in the area ‘Innovative Technologies for Cultural Heritage and Activities – Tourism’ and the field of ‘Cultural and Artistic Heritage’, or who have at least three years’ experience in carrying out conservation work on cultural heritage over the last ten years.

The certificate awarded on completion of the course is recognised nationally and entitles holders to register with the National Register of Restoration Technicians, administered by the Ministry of Culture.
