The history of the School at the Maniago-Spilimbergo Rotary club
Thursday 15 july 2021 the Rotary Club Maniago-Spilimbergo hosted, in the suggestive Painted House in the historic center of Spilimbergo, a meeting dedicated to the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli entitled The Mosaic School: between tradition and innovation. The guest-speaker was the director of the School, Gian Piero Brovedani, who presented the history and future perspectives of an institution founded in 1922 in Spilimbergo to offer study and work opportunities to young people and today it has become an international center for training in art of mosaic.
The event was an opportunity to officially present the Nemo Gonano Award wanted by the Club to honor the figure of Nemo Gonano. The President of the Club Davide Petralia recalled that the Prize consists of a scholarship of € 400.00 awarded to a student of the second course worthy of the quality of the work performed.
The director Brovedani, during his speech, spent heartfelt words in memory of Nemo Gonano, former president of the Regional Council from 1991 to 1993 and president from 1994 to 2004 of the Consortium for the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli: thanks to his management, the School succeeded to emerge from a profound crisis which, if it had persisted, would have decreed its closure.
